About Me
Personal Chef. My passion for cooking started when I was young and I prepared meals for our family of seven. I learned to cook from scratch using truly natural organic ingredients from our farm. Once I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend The Minneapolis College of Art and Design, I was introduced to many cultures and cuisines. I started to collect cookbooks and teach myself how to prepare various international cuisine. I also took numerous cooking classes over the years to increase my knowledge and skills. I assisted visiting chefs at the Byerly's Culinary Arts School , worked in the culinary shop as well as conducted food demonstrations for the Lunds/Byerly's gourmet food markets.
In 2001, I started One on One personal Chef and established a website, www.oneononechef.com. I used word of mouth to market my business and found most people wanted me to cater home parties. However, I found clients who hired me to prepare meals for them, the primary goal for my business. Since 2005, I have not been able to work my business due to taking a full-time position as an administrative assistant.
House Manager/Housekeeper.
From August 2003 to October 2005, I worked as a house manager/housekeeper 30 hours a week, Monday through Friday. My daily duties consisted of cleaning and fulfilling various requests from the owners. They were away during the day, took vacations and wintered in a second home in Palm Springs, California. I would schedule service people, do errands, do some clerical duties and care for the pet poodle. I would help plan the menu, shop, prepare the food, serve and clean up when they entertained in their home.
Nanny/Cook
After I left the house manager/housekeeper position, I applied at a nanny placement company. I was screened and hired and worked with them part-time. They placed me with one of the Cargill family members to prepare dinner for the teenage children. I also picked them up after school and drove them to other activities. I have six children, three who are step-children I parented for about 10 years. I chose to sell my graphic design business so I could be a stay at home mother. It was a bit hectic caring for 4 children under 6 years old at that time, but I enjoyed every moment. I feel confident I am able to care for children of any age.
