Katie Cavuto MS, RD is a Registered Dietitian and
Personal Chef.
Katie
grew up outside of Philadelphia
PA. Years of competitive gymnastics sparked her
interest in nutrition. She realized
early on that she could not be a good dietitian without a better understanding
of food. Her quest for culinary
knowledge led her to Johnson and Wales
University in Providence Rhode Island
where she graduated with an AS in Culinary Arts and a BS in Culinary
Nutrition. While in school she worked at
several local restaurants to improve her culinary skills. Upon graduation she was accepted to Tufts University
in Boston, Massachusetts were she successfully
completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Nutrition and became a Registered
Dietitian. Katie holds a certification
in Adult Weight Management through the American Dietetic Association and Center
for Dietetic Registration. She is a
Member of the American Dietetic Association and the American Personal and
Private Chef Association. Katie is a
regular contributor on Fox, NBC and CBS in Philadelphia as an expert in her field. She is the president of Healthy Bites, LLC,
and nutrition and personal chef service that has been showcased in the Daily
Candy, Main Line Today Magazine, the Philadelphia Metro Paper, City Paper, as
“Best of the City” food and dining on Comcast On Demand to name a few. She is most recently one of 10 finalists on
season 5 of The Next Food Network Star.
It
is her mission to use her unique skill sets as a dietitian and chef to show
others how easy and fun it can be to live a healthy lifestyle. Katie promotes farm to table fare and the use
of seasonal, local, organic ingredients.
Her philosophy is what she likes to call “Green Cuisine” which is about
eating healthy for your body and the planet.
“Our
lives are so busy. We need to take time
to appreciate our bodies and the food that we eat. It is my goal to make this a little easier.”
